I don't like it when people and organizations that I care about do stupid things needlessly inflict damage upon themselves. As detailed over at CCH, the individual posters who broke the story and the Birdnapper were all logging in from Schupp Co. A fundamental grasp of PR for a multi-million operation as large as the Cardinals is as essential as starting pitching.
Now, what's interesting is that this comment (or maybe my general tone and demeanor) a comment earlier today defending the campaign. Let them run their stupid campaign, and at the end of the day, you can mock them (which, sarcastically, you have already) to death. The Mets subway campaigns over the city. I'm sure it's necessary, since the move to KTRS has gotten plenty of press, and again it's a product that sells itself here in St.
